This attention to detail and commitment to ensuring the well-being of each dog is truly commendable. The management takes dog safety seriously, and all employees are extensively trained in dog handling techniques and behavior management. The facility is impeccably clean and well-maintained, with ample space for dogs to play and socialize. One of the standout aspects of Camp Bow Wow is the emphasis on animal care and safety. Everyone shares the same love for dogs, which creates a positive and enjoyable workplace. From day one, I felt welcomed and included in the close-knit community. The team is incredibly supportive, and there is a genuine sense of camaraderie among the staff. I genuinely loved the dogs I met and will miss them but I am so glad to not work there any more.įirst and foremost, the work environment at Camp Bow Wow is fantastic. This is disappointing because I worked very hard and did as much as I could to keep up with everything being asked of me without complaint even when I was beyond burnt out. When I put my two weeks notice in I was given the silent treatment from the owner and basically treated like I had done something wrong when I was just moving to an opportunity with better work life balance. The stress and lack of professional boundaries are the absolute worst part of this job. The owner piles responsibilities on managers and expects them to “just make it work” even though we are already working 50+ hours a week with no lunch breaks and juggling so many other things on top of running camp. I was contacted about work when I was on vacations and expected to respond basically immediately. For the pay they are offering(and the minimal or non existent raises they give out) it is absolutely not worth it. The minimum hours we were expected to work each week was AT LEAST 42 hours. My main issue is that there is zero work life balance and the owners expect salaried employees to be available basically 24/7. The employees weren’t bad but there is A LOT of turnover at the camp counselor level. I worked in management for close to two years and loved the customers and the dogs so much.
